OUR
KIDS’ COMMUNITY BREAKFAST CLUB

Information
Sheet
Our Kids’ Community Breakfast Club (OKCBC) is
working with the California National Guard’s Counterdrug Taskforce in an effort
to help protect our children against hunger and sickness, alcohol and drug use,
gangs and violence in our neighborhoods.
OKCBC is also working under the umbrella of
Consultants in Educational and Personal Skills (CEPS), a non-profit
organization in Sacramento
serving homeless men, women and children. It is our hope that all of our joint
efforts will make a difference in the lives of children and their families.
Our Kids’ Community Breakfast Club was started
in 1992 by Dr. Marlena Uhrik as a community engagement model in Hayward, CA. The program involves feeding families from low
income schools during the time when school is not in session. Breakfast is
served on Saturdays and during winter and spring school breaks. Educational workshops are provided for the
adults and children have a variety of educational activities to choose from
including tutoring in math and literacy, arts and crafts, dental and medical
screenings and referrals. Our Kids’ Community Breakfast Club (OKBCB) will now
be conducted in Sacramento.
The first Our Kids’ Community Breakfast Club
(OKCBC) in Sacramento will take place on
Saturday, September 26, 2009 from 9:00am-11:00am at the Oak Park Community Center
located at 3425 Martin Luther King
Blvd., Sacramento, CA.
We look forward to our continuous
relationship to work toward a drug-free community. Thanks you again for all the
support.
